1st ASEAN TISC Network Meeting
The ASEAN TISC (Technology and Innovation Support Center) Network, a sub-working group of the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC) held its Inaugural Meeting on 28 February 2025, presided by the Philippines which was designated as Chair at the AWGIPC’s 74th Meeting held in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR last December 2024.

The ASEAN TISC (Technology and Innovation Support Center) Network, a sub-working group of the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC) held its Inaugural Meeting on 28 February 2025, presided by the Philippines which was designated as Chair at the AWGIPC’s 74th Meeting held in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR last December 2024. Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) Director General Atty. Brigitte M. da Costa-Villaluz oversaw the 1st ASEAN TISC Network Meeting, while Ralph Jarvis H. Alindogan, J.D., Director IV (Documentation, Information and Technology Transfer Bureau) presided the Meeting. IPOPHL’s Director III Chamlette D. Garcia was also in attendance.

The ASEAN TISC Network puts in place a regional effort to establish and collaborate activities of TISCs in ASEAN with the overarching goal of achieving the IP commercialization and innovation goals of the ASEAN IPR Action Plans and the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan 2045.
The Meeting was held alongside the WIPO Regional Meeting on Strengthening the ASEAN Regional TISC Network, which took place in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 27-28 February 2025, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
During the Meeting, the representatives of the ASEAN Member States identified the specific needs of the TISCs and engaged in discussions on potential regional activities aimed at further enhancing TISC capabilities. These activities will focus on addressing emerging technological trends, regional TISC collaboration, strengthening IP infrastructure, and fostering innovation and commercialization. The outcomes of the discussions are expected lay the groundwork for a more resilient, interconnected, and globally competitive ASEAN IP ecosystem.
